1. The short version

Your files and your data stay on your device. Lingua Mundi / Shikibu processes everything locally and never uploads your documents, subtitles, or kitchen data to our servers. The only data we collect is what's needed to run the paid services (account, purchase, and subscription records).

2. What this product does with your data

• Shikibu: EPUB editing happens locally on your device. Pro includes a bundled offline dictionary; no reading data is sent to us.
• Lingua Mundi API: lookup requests you make through the API are processed by the service. Usage is associated with your account for rate limiting and billing only.
• Lingua Mundi GUI: the online dictionary sends the word you typed to the API to fetch its entry; the offline copy never phones home.

3. Accounts and payments

Accounts are provided by Clerk (identity provider) and purchases are processed by Stripe. We store only what our own services need: your account identifier, what you purchased, and subscription status. We never see or store your full card number — payments are handled by Stripe under their own privacy policy.

4. What we do NOT collect

• We do not sell or rent personal data.
• We do not use advertising trackers or cross-site ad networks.
• We do not read your documents, subtitles, EPUBs, or kitchen data.

5. Cookies and local storage

The app uses local browser storage to remember your language preference and (where applicable) your sign-in session. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

6. Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the product dashboard, which removes your account and associated records. Local app data is deleted when you remove the app's data folder or uninstall.
